Many realize that today marks the celebration of All Hallows Eve, more commonly known as Halloween. It garners its origins in the Celtic Festival known as Samhain (thanks Wikipedia!!!), which was a marking of the end of the harvest season. Now, as we seem to with everything else in America, we celebrate by dressing up in costumes and going door to door with our hands out begging for confections. I was sitting here thinking and began to draw a parallel between Halloween and the impending Election. One of the candidates sent me correspondence everyday for a solid three (3) weeks begging for a donation. It was interesting to me because they sent a number of glossy full color photographs that even though they must have been mass produced to get a better rate still cost money. Does it really make sense to beg me for money by spending money on postage and swag? Couldn't the resources you already had been allocated more efficiently? It seems as though the candidates, and for that matter a number of American institutions treat everyday like it's Halloween. My advice, stop begging and utilize your resources more efficiently. You know what I've learned, if you keep your lights off trick-or-treaters will not come to your house. Consider this the proverbial lights out against materialistic, Godless, greedy, institutions. Stay off of my porch!!!

This is a great song
This song gets me every single time.....listen to the lyrics and it'll get you too
Broken by Indiana Bible College
Lord I am broken
My life is in pieces
But your strength is perfect in all of my weakness
Lord I am broken
My life is in pieces
But your strength is perfect in all of my weakness
Jesus, Jesus
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
Jesus, Jesus
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
I know I'm broken
but you can heal me
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
I know I'm broken
but you can heal me
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
I might not be worth much
But I'm still willing
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
I might not be worth much
But I'm still willing
Jesus Jesus
I'm calling you
Sang that thang boy

I'm a Maverick Baby!!!!!
I think it's clear that the word of the month has to be maverick. No not the team in Dallas, nor the county in which Eagle Pass, TX resides, not even the Tom Cruise character in Top Gun (of course I happen to respect Goose way more, which leads me to the question in a Caldo Eating contest who wins Goose or Ice-man? Seriously....I don't think it particularly matters whether it's Caldo de Res or Caldo de Pollo my money's on Goose. But honestly, can anyone give me any sort of update on what's going on with Val Kilmer. I'm fairly certain he's alive, but is he still getting work. I mean if Kevin Costner can still get work after The Postman,Waterworld, and to a lesser degree Tin Cup (you had to see that coming) where's the love for Val?), but as dictionary.com defines a lone dissenter, as an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates. Come On!!! You can't seriously believe any and I do do mean ANY of these candidates are mavericks. When is the last time you heard that any of these people were lone dissenters'. When is the last time you've heard any qualitative major stance against an overwhelming tide of public opinion any and let me say it again ANY of these candidates have taken. You want a real maverick think of Tommy Smith and John Carlos defiantly putting up their fist at the 68' olympics.....Think Martin Luther King Jr. who decided it was better to fight violence with passive resistance..... most importantly think Jesus Christ who instead of causing violence to break out on his behalf said turn the other cheek and forgive them. So it is with great pleasure I ask you this question are you a Maverick???

4 million well spent
So I watched the much balley-hooed Barack Obama Infomercial early this morning on You-tube. Calm down, some people had to work while the thing was on live (plus there happened to be a very tenseley fought Spurs-Suns game; Shaq looked dare I say dominant. Of course I have no real idea as I previously mentioned I was working :) ). To be honest all I can say is thank God I voted early. The reason I make that statement is because the man presented himself to be downright Presidential. Not in that Youngbloodz let's get it on the floor way, (anyone remember that album? remember that foot tap dance thing they did? "Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff," lemme quit. Shouts out to Vader) but JFK during the first debate with Nixon, or Gdubya when announcing, "We're gonna get them terrorists." (remember Colin Powell with that kick it down a notch cochese look in his eye.) Come on I can't be the only one who remembers the obscene amount of arrogant swagger during that press conference. Sorry, back to the topic at hand. Barack Obama managed to portray himself in an authoritative light than John McSame....oops McCain has not been able to match. Unfortunately for Barack this may not be enough to sway voters who shall we say don't neccessarily share the views of Dr. King. I suppose I should be honest and tell you I don't think either major party candidate would be a positive for our nation. I should also tell you I don't agree with many of their policies on many issues. This is a Blog and I just felt it needed to be said that Obama managed to come of in a positive light and this is from someone who thinks he would make a melancholy president. That's my way of saying neither bad, nor good. To be honest I think both would do more harm than good.
